Life as a Dentist During COVID-19

When we changed our name to Greenboro Dental, I knew we needed to honour the strong tradition of quality neighbourhood dentistry founded by Dr. Robertson and continued by Dr. Lee. That’s why myself and Dr. Lee are firm believers in staying open and treating dental emergencies for existing and new patients in need of an emergency dentist in Ottawa during COVID-19.

As a new clinic owner dealing with the longest (and hopefully the last) work interruption I’ll see in my career, it could be easy to focus on the negatives. But what good would that do?

Like everybody, I experienced some downs during this shut down. However, it’s also been a great time for self-reflection and improvement as I plan the next steps on how to enhance the patient experience at Greenboro Dental.

While I already miss catching up with my classmates at courses and conferences, thanks to modern technology it’s easy to keep up with the newest trends and techniques through online continuing education courses. Apps like Facetime and Zoom have also been great with staying connected with family and friends, especially as I seek their advice as I find my inner handyman planning out the revamp of Greenboro Dental - stay tuned for more exciting updates!

As one of the first steps in improving the patient experience at the dentist, we have chosen to invest in multiple HEPA grade air cleaner and purifiers that will be placed in the waiting room and in each of the clinical operatories to help enhance the air filtration that our building’s HVAC system already provides. While this is not a mandatory requirement of dental clinics at this time, we think it’s worth it to improve the air quality you experience at your next visit!

4 Benefits of Having an Air Cleaner and Air Purifier at the Dentist:

1.     Eliminates Viruses and Bacteria

2.     Eliminates Odours

3.     Eliminates Allergens

4.     Eliminates Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs - human-made chemicals found in paints and pharmaceuticals for example)

Please note, Greenboro Dental is currently closed for non-essential services during this time.

However, if you’re experiencing a dental emergency, whether you’re an existing patient or a new patient requiring emergency treatment, don’t hesitate to contact us for assistance and we’ll be here, ready to help you.

Stay Safe and Be Well.
